SOLD: Besson 15" 4v comp. Eb in satin silver w/ bright accents

Post by arpthark »

SOLD!

This is a 1970s Besson 15" bell compensating Eb in satin silver with bright silver accents and bell interior. Original small British shank receiver, ball buster and strap rings have been removed.

This tuba is fresh out of the shop, including lifting out various dents, valve alignment, new corks/felts, etc. Currently working on polishing it up, and then will post new pics.

Silver plating on the horn is 99%. In full disclosure, valves show the tiniest bit of wear -- I would rate them 95%. All slides get a nice pop when pulled.

If you are looking for a classic English Eb tuba with the smaller bell, this is it.

Asking $2,750 or best offer. Pickup encouraged but can ship at buyer's sole risk and cost, continental USA only. No case. Located in southeast CT and can meet you anywhere around New England or the NYC Metro area to facilitate a sale.

These are BEFORE pics. The pings in the bell and branches have been removed, including that gnarly one on the top branch. All work has been done by Dick Hansen out of Brimfield, MA. I will get updated pics up within the next week or so. PM or email beanhillbrass at gmail. Thanks!

I bought the horn and am looking forward to having fun with it. First, I need to get a Sellmansberger Imperial mouthpiece. It was a pleasure meeting Blake and his very cute 1-year-old son.

I would have sold you mine, but it's the only thing I have on hand that fits all those wacky old E-flats I had crowding my workshop!

@sweaty is a great guy, great family, had an awesome time chatting with his wife while he tried out the horn, and got to show his son my ca. 1880s two-seater outhouse. Safe travels!

Great little horns. If I weren't so paranoid about having too many instruments was too many overlapping purposes, I would have one of those. I really like them.
