No idea if it's a good deal or not, but it popped up.

Saw that. No idea about that make, but it looks like it's in nice condition, and NOLA would seem to be a good market.

I did a bit of digging. These seem to go used for around $1k-$1.5k, and the model has a good reputation as being a durable starter/intermediate bass from a reputable company. "Good for folk/rockabilly/bluegrass."

These are steamed to shape mass produced plywood instruments aimed at the school orchestra market. Years ago they were made in the USA but not sure if that’s true anymore. The used one in the listing is overpriced in my opinion. 900 or so maybe. The plywood construction stands up to a good bit of abuse. Not prone to cracking like solid wood but edges often chip so that’s not particularly unusual nor is it a structural issue.

Thanks for the info. I played quite a bit of bass guitar when I was younger, in a couple rock bands and the like, but I have never messed around with a string bass. I think it would be fun, but the barrier to entry is a little cost prohibitive for an amateur, and I'm busy enough with tuba duties that I probably couldn't take too many extra playing opportunities.

Looks pretty fair to me.
Plywood construction is fine for most purposes - no problem with cracks, and the amount of sound produced could be equal or better than for a solid wood front in a price range that any sane person could consider. It's a good name. And it looks good, while it's standing around getting in the way for the next decade or so.
