Would it be wise to cut this to B-flat, since most corrugated drainage culvert pipe music (at least, that I've performed) is in flat keys?

...a questionable action, and off in the tall weeds, based on my general observations.
After a number of years, they certainly have a tendency to be flat, and - echoing my own previous thoughts - they're sort of gravelly.
