GWW (those big Costa Rica-made wood cases for large instruments) used these plastic handles (which looked like leather) in the past.
One loop end would always bust (just as seen in this picture).
Jakob Winter (I'm a fan, fwiw) used the same handles during the same era, but they made their OWN (superior) hardware (as seen)...it sort-of resembles the way that those really nice (leather) handles on the old Bach trumpet/trombone cases were fastened in.
Since I had to pull the (really pretty, new-looking) blue plush lining and pad loose (to get to this hardware) I'm going to RE-use the Jakob-Winter (tough/improvised) attaching hardware with the (new/genuine leather) replacement handles.
(Once reinserted, the ends of each of those loops must - once again - be hammered down flat...I had to straighten them in order to extract them. I had to grab them with a pair of lineman's pliers and jiggle/pull VERY hard to get them out.)
This will be (after decades of searching for one) my (old/slim-line/no-cracks-in-the-plastic) Jakob Winter molded case for The World's Most Fantastic F Tuba.

originally for a Červený 68/681 - and likely included with a new one bought from that MENC place in New Jersey, decades ago...
...and the wheels are still in pretty good shape.
