Re: FB: Amati Bb
Basically identical to the Sanders SM1314U Bb I bought from Custom Music in 1984, except that Custom replaced these nice S-linkages with the crappiest of the crappy 2-56-thread ball joints. I also had to fill a solder gap in a second valve knuckle. But it was quite affordable by the standards of the day and a very nice playing tuba. I traded it for a Miraphone 186, which seemed like a pretty good deal at the time. :)
The Sanders label was engraved on a sheet of red brass and stuck onto the Amati engraving with (I kid you not) double-sided tape.
I bought it as a gift to myself for having completed graduate school at night while working full time.
