Has anyone - other than Yamaha - ever sold knockoffs of their own mouthpieces?

I'm told you get better results using the phrase "inspired by". FYI.

I have a NOS Jim Self replica (the mouthpiece, not the person).

It's unusual as there is no maker's mark, engraving, anything, on the outside of the mouthpiece.

Most other Yamaha "replicas" I've seen just lack the two-tone gold plating of the "originals" (along with being a couple hundred bucks cheaper).

I wonder if it's a factory defect, b-stock, or something.

It's probably just a top secret replica. That's the next level down replica, at least that's my understanding.
