I have no idea, but I suspect that the lack of owning one all these years has been my downfall.

It sure wouldn't be very difficult to make, if only I could imagine a use for it.

It is the adjustable "stop" limiter for limit one's downward slide.
Most trombones don't come with one either.

Both perhaps, but it may also limit success, and I have my own limits already - in regards to that.

It looks a bit like a topic generator

I goes on the end of a slide hammer/puller in place of the usual hook.

The woodwind geek I work with uses it all the time through tone holes to knock dents up.

I have yet to find a use for it for brass, therefore it has no value.

Yeah, my inertia tool maybe used to be threaded, but it isn't anymore. Before I got it it was welded. Mine is set up to pull posts up on saxophone bodies and has two fittings for large head and small head posts. I've rigged up things like in that picture to use for the same application, but - even looking right at it - it didn't occur to me that that's what it was. :eyes: When I've rigged similar things up, the results were sort of sh!tty (no skilz...??)...but there are ways to reach those places without using an inertia or a pulling tool.
Whether I'm selling a saxophone or repairing someone's, I really don't like for the repaired place to scream "I've been repaired!!!"

At first glance, it looked like you could smoke illicit substances with it.
