I figured for standing/jazz stuff a Dynasty convertible tuba (never in contra from though, ew
). It's small enough to hold and have fun with, and I actually really enjoy playing it now that I've fixed the tuba (It's not my tuba, yet, it's the school's. I may try and buy it, I LOVE the horn). But, I figured maybe my input could be debated, and expanded upon.

In my humble opinion there is nothing to discuss. If you feel good with the horn, your playing colleagues don't complain and the audience is happy everything is fine!

...but of course you should cut it to C, add some valves and have it silver-plated!

I've used it for almost everything, and so far nobody has kicked me out!

I'm definitely a lacquer guy over silver plate
I totally agree for ease of maintenance, although I love the look raw brass and a natural patina

I don't like to spend much time working on cleaning a tuba!
