The flip side is, the bad guys wouldn’t spend the time to set stuff like this up if it didn’t work.

What impressed me the most was that something like 41 people already had it in the cart. If I had not known someone who actually was susceptible to this kind of thing, I'd wonder why they put in the effort to make the site. I had a friend, a very nice fellow who happened to be "on the spectrum," who was gullible on this level. Because he was incapable of lying himself, he couldn't fathom scams. I had to do serious work to talk him out of the Nigerian princess scam whereby they wanted his bank account number so that they could deposit his millions. I mean, I really had to do some talking. This was someone with a high IQ and a very good horn player.

The most frustrating part is no matter how many times you report this obvious fraud to Facebook, they refuse to block it, saying "We’ve taken a look and found that this ad doesn’t go against our Advertising Standards."

My free antivirus won't allow me to view it.

I wonder if Facebook is sue-able if someone bites on the scam, finds out that numerous people had reported it as a scam, and files suit for the loss of money caused by Facebook's refusal to remove the ad. Yeah I know arguing with a computer is useless, but it still occurs to me.

Facebook Marketplace is becoming a really big sh!thole...and it couldn't have happened to a shittier website/platform, because there is no sh!ttier website/platform than facebook.
