Excellent Meinl Weston 2145 tuba. Has the rarer and more desired small valves. Excellent even sound, very good pitch and quick, easy, even response. Fast valves and slides. Some lacquer wear. Comes with brand new miraphone gig bag. Pickup outside Chicago preferred. Shipping available at buyers expense $6,250 obo

Really like those tubas. Perfect 4/4 horn for someone who likes piston valves

These are rare and highly desirable, much more so than the big valve version IMHO.

Does smaller valves=smaller bore?

No. just a different design that, in hindsight, was better. I think MW made a mistake changing to the "Big Valve" set, and now they use it for everything, even when a .750" bore is a bit large for a horn, if it is a piston design, it gets the "Big Valve" valve set. <sigh>

These have a much nicer action and these horns play very well. I did not like the 2155 and have disliked most 2165s I have played (most, not all) but I have never played more than maybe four of these and I liked all of them.

Good luck to Matt to snag a quick sale. I am sure the buyer will really like this tuba.

I’ve only played on 2145 and it was great. It was a small valve version, built in 1992 or so. My 2165 has small valves also. Not much different under the hand then the King valves on my other horn.

bump.
Would you except a Boobie with a PT-109 as a trade?
Can this instrument be rebuilt as a sheet-metal rotary instrument?

These are great tubas. I certainly enjoyed mine while I had it. It was sold to a much more capable player than myself!
