As you awaken on dark Monday mornings with winter approaching - wondering if your slight headache and slightly scratchy throat are hinting at “the virus“, what are your thoughts - at that time and day - on “BB-flat vs. CC”?

It depends on if they are silver plated or lacquered instruments and if they will give me a world class sound.

BBb is better. Because I know the fingerings.

When I awaken troubled by BBb vs CC thoughts, I have a vodka & orange juice shot, look at my EEb , then walk the dog...........

I solved that dilemma by owning both. I drink some coffee, get dressed, and admire the BBb and CC I have in my little studio. After that, I don't think about it too much, as I always start off with BBb, then go to CC, then to F. My routine doesn't really waver. I solved the other dilemma, as one is lacquered, one is silver-plated, and one is goldbrass. The only other thing that plagues me on a dark fall morning is adding an Eb and a helicon and if they should be one in the same. And if I have enough coffee.

I truly wish I could awaken with an internal debate about the merits of the BBb vs CC horns. It seems the moment my eyes open I'm already worrying about the work problems I couldn't solve the day before.

But totally BBb.

My wife and I have guardianship of our grandsons--a preschooler and a toddler. You have described every morning in our house.

As far as CC or BBb, I tried a CC once. I'm over it now.

CC for more then 20 years, but if someone else wants to play the b flat with no valves he must use a b flat tuba. I don't care.
As long it is in tune I am happy.

The problem with C tubas is that they are so out of tune. I have to use alternate fingerings for every freaking note.

For example, for the G at the bottom of the staff, instead of the 1-2, or maybe 3 that it should be, that stupid freaking C tuba demands that I play it open, or 4, or 1-3. WTF?

This new, super duper airplane can turn faster, but when climbing, is more likely to spin out of control. Ah... :facepalm2:

It would be nice if more people knew the correct fingering for "F" when playing a Conn 20J. :red:
