I'm officially done buying tubas! Found the elusive Martin Mammoth 4 valver front action. :bow2: Former military horn that was paraded back in its day. I'm guessing the Navy? The valves are pristine, so it was well maintained. Plays great, even with one King bit that is improperly seated and leaking air. Thanks to Tabor for taking out some dents on it! (Yes he is on the board).

If anyone is looking to sell a Martin tuning bit set, please contact me! Also in search of a tenon bell screw that fits. It is missing one. Also in search of an upright bell.

Congratulations! I know you've been looking for quite a while. Great find!

I'll look and see if I have an extra screw for the bell.

I do have a Kanstul bell that is the same as the one they made as reproductions for the Martin. This one continues tapering a bit smaller (also taller, but same mandrel) so would need a Martin tenon and would then be trimmed to fit. Let me know if you're interested.

Gorgeous! Let's hear it!

Does Martin Wilk still sell his remake of Martin bits?

The Wessex XL bells fit the Mammoth collar and work well.

Thanks! I may take you up on your bell offer if I can find a donor tenon.

It looks too tall for the body from the pics I saw. Thanks for the info though. Wessex is apparently cloning a mammoth at some point in the future according to a source. So I could just wait?

Yes! He has to custom make them though and trying to give poor Martin a break, as I know he is really busy.

Thanks!
