CCCCCC: Coahoma Community College Choir Christmas Concert

Post by bloke »

When I get emails from contractors regarding gigs, (obviously) I politely thank the person, and write them down.
When I get just a few particular emails about gigs (which might have been a hassle before, but not so much of one to turn down the same gig a year later) I might sigh just a little bit, politely thank the person, and then write it down.

...but when I discover that - once again - I've been hired to do the Coahoma College Christmas show - I always grin. :teeth:
The choir is amazing, they usually have it in some local church (typically, in one of the LARGE churches) and the place will be packed with people - ALL KINDS of people.

The choir is amazing, and the choir director is amazing. (I've whispered to him that it may (??) be time to start putting his resume out there for consideration by larger institutions, but - otoh - I'd hate for him to leave.)

I received that annual email today. I grinned.

All we get is one run-through of everything, a dinner break, and then the show.
It's a 2-hrs./one-way trip for me...That's fine. :smilie8:

Last year, they had to hold it in the school's basketball arena, due to multiple local church sanctuary availability conflicts...
They also invite some local high school gospel choirs to participate in these annual concerts (as is seen), which are also amazing. :smilie8:

In 2022, it was held (per usual) in a huge Catholic church:

The ONLY "sad" thing...?? Ramon's is ONLY open Thurs-Fri-Sat (as these concerts - to insure no orchestra musicians' December conflicts - are usually scheduled on an early-in-the-week weekday)

so we all have to settle for Abe's...
