How screwed am I?
I recently purchased a pt-6 made in 1992, so it's a lovely handmade example that sounds wonderful and is very in tune. The only issue is that due to either it's age, assembly, or something else, the valves leak (mostly 3+4). Anyone have ideas for a temporary "fix", or is this a $$$$ job? How do ...

Estimate on the age of a handmade pt-6
Hi all, I've recently come into possession of an early handmade pt-6, and am loving how it plays. I'm not quite sure exactly how old it is (seller told me between 1989-1992) and would love to know if any of y'all have more info it would be greatly appreciated. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders ...

A humorous translation guide to tuba sales
This seemed to do well on the Facebook side of things, so I thought I'd share it here. It's all intended to be lighthearted, no offense meant :) "Looking to downsize my collection"- my wife said there's too many tubas in the house "Selling because I prefer piston F tubas"- rotors are hard :smilie4 ...

Elephant Room Impressions (Add your own in the replies)
I had the chance to spend a couple hours in the exhibition hall at the Army Conference, and while it was impossible to get to everything, these are the horns that left a lasting impression for me. I found myself looking at a lot of big rotor contrabasses, as I've been exploring a move to rotors in ...

Re: Bought an extra airline ticket...
I hope you find something you like at the conference! I travel several times a year with a horn in the window seat next to me (auditions+school), and I think the biggest thing that's avoided trouble for me is a a friendly attitude and acknowledging the rarity of the situation in a half-joking manner ...

Re: I hate doing thus, but.....
It depends on your horn, how you're built, and the leadpipe taper. I prefer using a larger throated mouthpiece on my PCK (AT2Y), as I find that it nicely counterbalances the natural zip of the Gronitz by adding more core to the sound. Try whatever you can get your hands on and see what's comfortable ...
