$old_Yamaha YBB-103 BBb Tuba with case For Sale

$old_
Yamaha YBB-103 BBb Tuba with case For Sale. $795 OBAO. Local pickup in Tucson, AZ 85745 or $195 ground shipping to CONUS only.
Cash only, no trades please.

Photos here:

These are well built and fun little horns to play. They can sound bigger than they look. The scale is good. Suitable for student home practice, school band, backup horn, "old man tuba", small ensembles, Tuba Xmas, etc.

This is a used condition tuba in overall Good condition. It has dings, scratches, evidence of prior repairs and most of the lacquer finish has worn off. For a former school horn, it's in pretty good shape. It has been professionally cleaned and serviced.

The valves are excellent and have new OEM felts and nylon-coated springs. The slides all pull. The first valve slide is not smooth enough for on the fly tuning. The third valve slide located on the back of the horn is smooth enough for on the fly tuning for those pesky low B-naturals.

One of the main tuning slide receiver tubes is approximately 1/2" shorter than the other. This doesn't affect functionality, unless you need to pull the main tuning slide almost all the way out to play in tune. These horns tend to be a little sharp, so that is a possibility. The velcro straps are strategically placed to dampen a few small sympathetic buzzes. Nothing's loose as far as I can tell - I checked all the braces and solder points.

The factory hard case is in good functional condition. There is one area where the lining is pulling away from the outer shell just above where the bell goes. There is a dent in the outer shell of the case near the bell rim. This case does not have wheels.

There is no mouthpiece included in this sale. If you need one, I can sell you an unbranded 24AW for $25.

I usually include the factory specifications in my listings, but I cannot find anything official online for this discontinued model. The last photo is a screenshot of the Yamaha website for the current model 3/4-size BB-flat tuba, which appears to be similar in size.

Thanks for looking.

It probably wouldn’t take too much work to not need those Velcro straps.
