It says $5,000 but he may have lowered the price to $4,000 in the questionable FB tuba euph sales page that shall remain nameless. Nice young man. It looks like he has taken very good care of it. Can't really tell, but this tuba is worth my passing this along. I played this horn professionally for like 16 or 18 years. It has its known Yamaha 621 issues, but I did some messing around with it and it worked great for me for a long time. When I owned it the pitch was pretty solid, with the bottom space Ab being sharp. Very solid low register. Bland inoffensive Yamaha tone; nothing special to play, but all my colleagues liked it a lot. ("Yep, sounds like a tuba to me.") The horrible, painful right wrist position is somewhat corrected, and a pull ring added to the 1st slide to make it easier to reach. I added a 3rd slide waterkey at the trap. The leadpipe was raised about 4" so that one does not need to be a Tyrion Lannister to play it. No lacquer; raw brass. The gig bag shown is a California Cronkhite leather bag in maroon and black. It looks to be old but in very good shape. The hard case was in nearly perfect shape when I parted with it, and probably never used it that much. His price is very fair for what you would be getting. He was a very nice and polite young man when I sold it to him, and probably would be a safe and honest person to buy from.
I really liked this horn. (I owned it for a long time. That ought to say something as to its quality.) For this price, I would buy it back except that I like my Kurath a lot more. This is a small tuba but it puts out a lot of sound. I used it in the orchestra on many occasions without issue. I messed around with mouthpieces for years trying to un-Yamify the tone and was very happy with a Laskey 30C. This fellow might still have that mouthpiece and might toss it in if you ask, but I do not know anything about this sale. I am just passing on something I saw on Facebook that interests me.
If you buy it PLEASE let me know!
The link is to his ad on his personal Wall. I am not in that tuba sales group, and it is private. He made his personal advert public, so I am sharing that.
