WTB original Gebr. Alexander F Tuba mouthpiece
Hi,
for historic reasons I want to buy an original Gebr. Alexander Mouthpiece for F-tuba, preferrably a #30, 31 or F32 or potentially some of the grades. These mouthpieces are not available anymore and I am hoping that somewhere in some box, there are some left.
Dor your info, I have attached a Mouthpiece Table from an Alex 80-ties catalogue.
thank you very much.
Best Chris

@Chris Mayer I have one that has a 30mm diameter. It is stamped Alexander Mainz but I don’t see a model number on it. I’ll measure the bore size tomorrow.

Re: WTB original Gebr. Alexander F Tuba mouthpiece
I think I may have bought this one off Bort, I don’t remember.
A 1/4” drill bit fits with room to spare (can see light around it) but a 17/64” bit will not fit through the bore. I’m sorry but I don’t have a more precise way to measure the bore. If you wait until the weekend, I can turn down a piece of dowel on the lathe until it just fits, then measure that with calipers.

Re: WTB original Gebr. Alexander F Tuba mouthpiece
Thanks for the picture. I do Not Need the bore size.
It is what it is. You say the cup inner diameter is ca 30 mm ? These Alex mouthpiece had larger diameter shafts to fit the huge receivers especially on B Tuba. I am not sure what the status once was with F Tubas. Does the mouthpiece fit into an American / European sized receiver or is it too large ?
Please drop me a note if you want to sell it and what you are asking for.
Best
Chris

@Chris Mayer
The Alex mouthpiece I have goes into a Euro mouthpiece receiver about 3/8"-1/2", so no, not really. Sorry.
