Congrats to Rory McIlroy on both his green jacket and now completing a career grand slam. He now joins these illustrious players in the same breath:

Tiger Woods: Open Championship (2000); U.S. Open (2000); PGA Championship (1999); Masters (1997)

Jack Nicklaus: Open Championship (1966); PGA Championship (1963); Masters (1963); U.S. Open (1962)

Gary Player: U.S. Open (1965); PGA Championship (1962); Masters (1961); Open Championship (1959)

Ben Hogan: Open Championship (1953); Masters (1951); U.S. Open (1948); PGA Championship (1946)

Gene Sarazen: Masters (1935); Open Championship (1932); PGA Championship (1922); U.S. Open (1922)

Note that many otherwise famous golfers may have won one or more, sometimes many, major tournaments, but not at least one of each as these gentlemen have. And these gentlemen have won more major tournaments; the year listed is of the first victory in each respective major.

Every boy who aspires to play golf (including me), and once he learns what tournament golf is all about, then at least at one point on the practice green he imagines, and even says out loud to his buddies as they take turns, "And now, birdie to win the Masters." And that is exactly what Rory did today.

Congrats.
