I had forgotten about this piece. Absolutely fantastic brass writing and a joy to play.

Being primarily a trumpet player, I'm glad I have never had to play that beautiful work. It sounds like an endurance nightmare for the chops. (My chops, that is.)
Thanks for posting. That ensemble is one heck of a good group.

Since Howard Hanson is a native son (Wahoo, NE), for our October 23, 2017 Lincoln Community Concert's Program which honored Nebraska's 150th Anniversary of statehood we played the Chorale and Alleluia as the second work in our concert. Needless to say, it was a challenge for our group. We didn't perform with the same polish and panache as the TKWO, but we and the audience enjoyed it very much.

Other works programmed for that concert included Platte River Run by Larry MacTaggert, Platte River Hoedown by Carl Strommen, and Journey of the Sandhill Cranes by Nolan Schmit.
Best regards,
Jerry Wilkins

Agreed. This was part of the 2017 Maryland All-State Community Band program. Challenging, but rewarding to perform.
