BRAND NEW from Ed at Badger, these are currently $175 + probably $20 shipping.

BRAND NEW from Miraphone they are much less, but that size box usually costs $60 to ship to the CONUS.

Either way you are getting a brand new pipe with no dings, or dents, and with a NICKEL SILVER receiver already installed, and the pipe will be correctly shaped.

This auction is for an unknown quantity from a seller with only ONE sale in the past. What it shows and says are likely true, but you don't know, and the photos show a bit more damage or "age" (it is supposedly N/OS but no date of make is given) that his description and limited photos describe. I would only "save money" on something like a leadpipe when the horn was school-owned and likely to be beat up again quickly. If this were for a nice, personally owned 186 BBb I would loosen my purse strings and get a new one from Miraphone directly. Second choice would be Badger. (It would depend on price and how quickly I needed it. Miraphone will take over a month in most cases, with that size of box.)

Further: not knowing the date of make leaves a lot fo variables up in the air. There were three tapers used over the years, IIRC. The all work well with the horns they came on, but do not necessarily work when used on the "wrong" horn. This is really true for the CC 186 tubas. Perhaps it is not so important for the BBb horns? I don't know.

Just my opinion…
