WTB: Conn 32K/ Old Style Conn 36K valve stems

Post by King Conn »

Hello all!

I’ve recently taken on some personal projects after receiving two free sousaphones from the 60’s-70’s era from school. I have a working 1966 old-style Conn 36K, but one valve stem is missing, along with the finger buttons for the other two. Just wanted to see if anyone here has some spare old style 36K or 32K parts laying around that I could buy that missing valve stem and finger buttons off of.

Thanks!

P.S. You may be wondering how I know the 36K works without it having some small, but necessary parts missing.
The answer is simple - we got a 32K Franken-Sousa last year at the school. I borrowed its bell, screws, and one valve stem, if you were curious. It ended up playing just about as perfect as it could get for a fiberglass, or really a sousaphone in general. :tuba:

Like my play on words? :)

Allied Supply (Getzen) has aftermarket valve stems and finger buttons for those.

The buttons are very close replicas to Conn.

Most every repair-guy (who actually does it as a business) has an account with Allied Supply.

The stems are plain brass and correct.
For an extra charge, Allied will nickel plate them.
