TUBA (not "sousaphone") guard wire

Post by bloke »

I got my 1/2-inch-wide/low-profile arced brass in from Online Metals, today...
https://www.onlinemetals.com/en/buy/bra ... /pid/23728
Here's a comparison between it and 1960's Holton TUBA guard wire.

I still have a bunch of King sousaphone guard wire in stock (bought long ago, when it was stupid-cheap, and I REALIZED that it was stupid cheap), but I'll probably ONLY be using it for sousaphone repairs, from now on...

(OM also offers some really narrow stuff, that closely resembles the York stuff that York would use to wrap around BOTH the upper AND lower outer bows...in one long piece - when those bows were soldered together in a coplanar orientation.)
