Re: What happened to Lee's website
It is up for me, too, but... I have to say - it looks different. I happened to visit his site a few weeks ago and it has changed. The proportions of all the parts of the web site are different. The banner is huge, the whole things seems stretched out left-to-right, text is big, etc.
So..... Something is going on!

I don't shop for tubas, pretty much ever, so I have no idea what his URL is. Can someone please post a link?

It works on my phone browser, but I get the online pharmacy when I go there on my laptop. So weird.

It's got way more information available now than the last time I looked at it. Yeah, the banner is overlarge, but the rest of the site is functionally intact.

Re: What happened to Lee's website
I also had trouble getting there. I kept getting re-routed to the online “pharmacy”. Looks like his site got hacked somehow. Seems ok now. Funny how somebody figured tuba players might be interested in ED drugs.
That King looks great! Someone should definitely buy it! Some observations. He calls it a “new” horn. It may be technically new but I don’t believe it can sold as new. He repaired a cosmetic defect. Sounds like he got a good deal on a B stock or open box instrument. The improvements sound nice. Hand lapped valves means no break in period like I’m experiencing right now with my stock open box 2341. That would be nice. The addition of two more water keys is certainly worthy and something I might eventually consider having done to mine. Old fashioned felt and cork regulation, Yamaha springs (better?), new prettier buttons, all nice. I paid 4799 plus shipping for my stock king. 5500 with all those worthy upgrades would be sweet! If I were still in the market it would be on my short list.

Re: What happened to Lee's website
I visit Lee's site semi-regularly to see what he has for sale since it's often interesting. The site has been up and down a bit, but I figure that's due to whoever is doing maintenance on it. I maintain a website for a local org, and I tend to do it during "regular" hours (between 8am and 10pm) since that's when I usually have time, so it will be down occasionally for updates when folks try to visit it. Pros tend to do maintenance during off-hours (2-4am Sundays is a popular time slot), but regular folks with regular lives tend to do it when it's convenient for them. I don't have a problem with this. For sites that may have visitors from around the world, there's no really good time that's out of the realm of possibility for a visit. I've even gotten the "Currently undergoing maintenance" message on Amazon and eBay during my own late-night visits.
I checked Lee's site just now, and it looks pretty much like it has for a while. There are several new listings on the pre-owned page, so that's likely why it was down. I think it underwent an overhaul in the last year or two, so if you haven't visited it in a while, you may not have noticed the differences before now.
As always, your mileage may vary.

Re: What happened to Lee's website
It seems to be dealing with hideously slow server issues. Had it been a Wordpress site before now?

Yea, it was a pharmacy for a while, now it's back to normal. Maybe a hosting issue or some mix up on the server side.

Re: What happened to Lee's website
Holy cow, those 2 Alexander's are gorgeous. I'm saying goodbye to my Alex 163 tonight, which also came through Lee's shop (except I snagged it before he listed it :)). They are wonderful instruments when well maintained and in good repair. I hope whoever buys the 173 will post about it here. The only one I've seen was the one that Dale sold a billion years ago, and sadly, I didn't have the $ for it then, either!
