Yes, that would be awesome. Having played that Rudy on several occasions, and knowing that it has been used in high-end circumstances when such an instrument was appropriate, I think the result would be rather amazing. That instrument, when you have it in your lap, your brain goes "no freaking way!" But when you play it, sound comes out, despite all expectations.

Does anyone have a photo of the Rudy 5/4 BBb next to the Rudy 6/4 BBb?

I grew up about 2 miles from Baltimore Brass, my parents still live there. Hoping to get over there to try this monster next time I'm in town (maybe around Easter?)

As the tolerances required are approximately 100 times more lax than the things with which I regularly work, I don’t mind hanging drywall, as long as I have a helper, and someone else does the taping and mudding.
… you know, there’s not much drywall in blokeplace…

I think that would be a fun tuba competition to have -- three GREAT players picking up some really BAD tubas at random for the first time, and seeing who can make it sound the best.

Note: I'm not saying this is a bad tuba. I'm saying I have a ton of respect for Daniel's skill to pick up just about anything and make HIS sound on it. He is an absolute professional musician.

I want to buy him a plane ticket to Baltimore and have him do one of his demo videos on the 6/4 Rudy.

I'm free next weekend. Let's gooooo ;-)

It was mildly tongue-in-cheek, but okay it looks like that idea was well received haha! Maybe since he's in the Bundeswehr, they get free or cheap rides in the Luftwaffe Cargo planes like the Air Force here does for part of the journey.

Since you seem on a buying spree, just buy the 6/4 Rudy on the German tuba forum.
The time saved you can spend on a longish video with the instrument, everybody happy.

Note that the picture shows the Rudi on a bearskin rug. A 10-foot grizzly bear.

But the only other animals on earth that are big enough relative to the 6/4 Rudi are whales and elephants, and whales and elephants just don’t make good rugs. So it had to be a grizzly bear. A big one.

That bear looks light brown (to my eyes)...albeit More tongue in cheek, but...there's no way that "rug" under the tuba is 10ft. long.

Gentleman, i worked on an other Video with the BBb Tuba. I practice a lot last days, and the "bromm" before a note start is MUCH better now. I played the Phil Snedecor Etude No.2 as a duett.
I played the first part on my Eastman 6/4 CC.
So it's a York style Duett. Will it post here next days...

I tried once a 6/4 Rudi... Its a HUGE sound, but super difficult to play and tune.
