Tuba gig bag Colors?

Post by greenbean »

In a perfect world... if all colors were available... what would you choose for a Cordura gig bag?

Thanks for helping me understand the tuba mind. A mysterious place, for sure...

A gray that is light enough so that I can't see my dogs fur on it, but dark enough to not look dirty.

And frankly... Nothing wild. Keep it classy, keep it neat and clean. Don't get one of your bags out there in orange camo or zebra stripe or leopard print... :eyes:

I'm into neither of those, but maybe a special order for some adventurous soul...? There might have to be a lot of demand (or a lot of cost) to warrant "special orders," especially if the material has to be purchased in amounts greater than a a couple of square yards.

One of the nicest (to me) that I recall seeing was dark brown (maybe it was black) around the outside (where the zipper is on a side loader) and a brown on the large side panels.

Stick with black, midnight blue, hunter green, puce, and dark brown...maybe (??) "oboe-case-liner" (royal) purple...

Silver (the same color as those soft interior liners) might (??) be cool, but it would soon show dirt really badly, yes?

pink, yellow, orange, multi-, etc...Those are for musicians (typically: bowed stringed instrument artistes) who dye their hair with Halloween hair dye, and pierce their noses/tongues/lips/eyelids/chins, etc...

I bought a great bag from messina in Louisville, KY. I don't think I could do any better....I ordered black and it's a lint/dust magnet. I would order the same bag but in a gray I think... Or something that doesn't show every speck of dust. But that's just me.

I was going to call it Boobnet (like boobtube=tv), but some ignorant boob might think it was an offensive sexual reference instead of the actual reference to someone's lack of intelligence. So I won't say it.

Hartmann luggage style tweed and leather.
Cordura needs to make it "Ballistic Tweed"
Sousaphone bag, I can see it

I had one made for my PT6 that is brown cordura, with hunter green panels front and back. Ferguson at Horn Guys suggested "think of some colors"...and I'm glad he did! Personal quirk: my gig bag should never be onstage in a "formal setting" but if it is (or has to be) it better be black

Wow, this is really interesting. Some good ideas. The challenge is choosing from the 30 colors available. I currently have black, smoke (a light charcoal, I would call it), vintage navy (looks like faded blue), and burgundy. I think I need to add some kind of brown or rust, a green, another blue?. I was thinking red but our burgundy is pretty red looking - it is not as dark as your typical burgundy. Olive green might be cool, too.

York-aholic, I remember seeing a leather bag from Glenn in two shades of brown that looked great. Or if I have a light brown cordura, I can give it dark brown leather parts - that would look sharp!

And, Bort, I special ordered some of this for you.

Tweed and Brown two-tone for special horns and plain black or Maroon for everything else.

Yeah, that’s the color I was thinking of. It’s also really good at hiding darker stains and dealing with scuffs. I’m also of the opinion that purple is a nice color even in formal situations (with proper tasteful considerations).

Purple would be a nice color. If I got purple, I'd like the leather trim/handles/etc. to be tan instead of black. But you can make bort's purple bag with leopard print trim parts. Or leopard print canvas with purple trim parts. A real pimp bag. Or Fredericks of Hollywood.
