Yes. Very useful. Probably the most obvious need in the music market today is instruction for non-classical style. It has bass lines in multiple styles, go through a bunch of style specific characteristic rhythm patterns and lines. It's a little irreverent and not out-of-touch stuffy like most other instrumental instruction books. Bass bone players are wired differently, and learning different pop style bass lines is so much more useful than another variety of Arbans. I wish there were more books like this that focus on different aspects of practical commercial playing.

Even if it is basic it's still valuable. Kids would otherwise have to get this introduction by playing in a bunch of bands, which is experience just not available to a lot of people. This book at least gives you a place to start.

Music – regardless of which continent – is extremely complex.
Even if you just go down the rabbit hole of mostly obsolete “Tin Pan Alley“ western music (a subset of a subset of a subset of a subset of a subset of a subset of obsolete popular music), even that stuff can be divided into at least a dozen styles.
