WARNING: Scammers are Using the PM System

Post by the elephant »

There is already a warning about this. I will reiterate it:

Scammers are replying to our WTB/WTT ads via the PM system, claiming to have exactly what we need. Then they send you somewhere else to try to scam you off this site.

This slimebag thought he was pretty cute, but he left out important information that would normally appear in a legit response. I ran the phone number, which is a very dirty line, used all over the place to steal from people on many sites.

DON'T FALL FOR THIS! NEVER LEAVE THIS SITE UNTIL YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH. This goober is not stupid and knows they have to have a post history to look legit. He has three posts. All of them are one word.

SATBCSURFIN is a slimeball scammer. Do not interact with them at all. The below message was reported. Do NOT text or call the number!

Just as a reminder, you can report a PM the same way you can a post. We'll take care of it

I took care of this one this morning when it was reported. I checked the email address on the Stop Forum Spam website and got a hit. The three posts that were made were also just one word ("great," "beautiful," etc.). It's also amusing how they always copy/paste the exact title of your post into the PM...that's also a red flag to me.

We could always charge $8/month to be verified and get a blue checkmark...just joking :)

Yeah, that’s all well and good but…

When I opened my email this morning and saw the notification that I had a PM for my Want Ad, it got my hopes up.

Then when I opened the link in the TubaForum notification email I found that that PM “can’t be found.” My hopes and dreams were smashed on the rocks of despair!

It was heartbreaking. How can someone play with my emotions like that and look themselves in the mirror?

P.S. Thank you Admin for all the work you put in to keep this forum running smoothly. Very much appreciated!

Man, feel left out.

No one offered me a Couturier, eb 3 valve comp (er, blaikley system, that is, now i got my hands on enharmonic one. and beside the one for $1500 listed on ebay shipped from vegas, which i'll consider next time i head near the seller's place), or the parts for the absent-minded beggar's march. (what else do i need to bump?)

While i'm at it, what else should be on my wish list? World Peace? I wish i knew what i wanted to wish for...

I still like my "let's get on zoom and you can show/play me the thing you're selling."

I love this advice! I was selling an instrument a couple years ago and the buyer asked me to do a Facebook live chat. It made BOTH of us feel better about the transaction.
