For sale: B&S Goldbrass Baritone
I'm also selling my ca.1978 B&S Baritone. It's one of the completely handmade/bent in lead premium versions with the single seam bell. Sort of a mini symphonie in Bb?
I've floated the leadpipe off the bell and there is a bit of lacquer loss here and there but it's in fantastic condition especially for its age. The valves and linkage are absolutely tight and silent. There are a few tiny dings but they are almost invisible and I decided to leave them be. Although it's great for deutsche Blasmusik and Oktoberfest, I've used it for tuba quartet and solo projects and it was great! The valves have a shorter action type of mechanic and can easily keep up with a modern piston euphonium.
Price 2500€. A new modern production version runs around 4.000 and a truly handmade version is double that.
I would prefer pick up in Berlin Germany but shipping is possible.
Thank you for looking and please contact me if you have any further questions or if you would like to see more photos.

I have an almost identical horn here in almost new condition (although with another stamp on the bell and an older linkage), and I can attest that this horn is everything that Louis says it is!

Cool horn and I like the hard case.
For sense of scale, how big is the bell and bore on this?

Just in case you're seriously interested in buying it - and he doesn't check back here, right away...
(as I own a very old fancy Bohemian one - which I bought 'cause it was 'purdy and cheap...and I've never got it to be playable) I'm going to stick my neck out and guess
"smaller than an American bell-front baritone but larger than an English baritone" would be reasonably accurate.

The bell is 28cm/11inchesTheHatTuba wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 3:45 pm Cool horn and I like the hard case.

The bore of valves 1-3 are 14mm and the 4th is 15mm (0.55 to 0.59in)

Too bad you are over there and I am over here, WAY over here. I am not a piston person and that would be perfect for what I do, and I could ditch the euph. I don't do much but would do it so much better with rotors.

Not to speak for the seller or make any assumptions, but my recent experience has shown that shipping from Germany to the USA is surprisingly cheap.

Re: For sale: B&S Goldbrass Baritone
I understand the journey is quite far, but you are most welcome in Berlin if you would like to visit.
Everything is better with rotors;)
And to agree with arpthark, one would expect it to be more expensive, but considering the distance and size of box, it's quite reasonable.
For example: Fully insured shipping from Berlin for this baritone to almost anywhere in the lower 48 would be about 120€

Re: For sale: B&S Goldbrass Baritone
120 euros is VERY cheap -- it would cost US probably $300 just within the USA. My currency converter today says 120 Euros is equal to about $130 USD. (That seems suspiciously way too similar though.)
A trip to Berlin would be delightful if my situation allowed it. And Hamburg, and Köln, and --- etc.
But I'd still have to ship it here anyway!

Somebody should buy this so I stop being tempted. And I should buy a trombone first, anyway.
For anyone in the U.S. interested in this, TheBerlinerTuba makes the shipping very convenient.
