While browsing the kleinanzeigen.de I stumbled over this add:
https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige ... 2-74-2163
The rough translation is that the seller is selling a antique B flat tuba.
The tuba has signs of use and has accumulated a lot of dust.
He is asking a fair price.

Re: B flat tuba in Germany???
There is a scam going on (facebook marketplace) whereby someone posts pics of some popular make/model of instrument, claims to not know anything about it, and asks for offers.
In reality, there is no instrument (only pictures), and they've got someone's (maybe several peoples' ?) money.
I'm NOT claiming that this particular ad is a scam.
I'm just referring to something that I'm seeing trending on facebook marketplace.

Oft repeated way of avoiding scammers: Make them get on Zoom and play it for you.

Could it be an idea to make a list of all known scams?bloke wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 10:05 am There is a scam going on (facebook marketplace) whereby someone posts pics of some popular make/model of instrument, claims to not know anything about it, and asks for offers.

When I was hunting for an F tuba I had a dealing with someone who at the last moment moved away to Spain (instead of Germany where I could be in a 5 hour drive). He offered to sent the tuba by mail (after I paid of course). I declined.

Re: B flat tuba in Germany???
Listing something as a scam (while only suspecting it) could open those who listed them - as well as the site owners and monitors - to easily-winnable libel suits.
The defense against libel/slander is the truth, but - also - the defense against a charge of libel/slander is proven libel/slander.
I've been libeled here, but the person was - I suspect - simply too naive/impulsive/uninformed/whatever to know better (or think better), and - anyway - I suspect they were (mostly) just frustrated and looking to bark at others (vs. minding their own business). ex. "Circumstances mess with company owner / company owner chews out manager / manager chews out boss / boss chews out dad / dad spanks child / child kicks dog / dog bites cat / cat runs across computer keyboard and libels webpage subscriber / etc."
