If I only have a mouthpiece rim size/profile in stock (only) with a coating - and a customer chooses to go ahead and purchase that coated rim, I'm going to need to always charge the full price for the coating (regardless of whether or not the customer is interested in the coating).
Production costs (and base metal materials) are rising as well...
...and (as sellers of things tend to never mention this) everything we buy (in order to survive - such as fuel and food) costs as much as double and more, so (if we are to remain/exist) we much charge more of these "dollar" things.
I feel confident that no one is surprised by this.
