No idea. I'm just saying I'd leave it alone unless there were issues with it. Restorative actions taken on my horns haven't always improved them, and in one case actually caused some problems. You need to be fairly choosy about who does work on your horns, and the more extensive the work, the choosier and more cautious I would be. But, I am a cautious person.

I do like that "sympathetic" restoration! And yes, if I got this horn fixed up, I'd do my homework a bit and send it likely to some of the places that have done work like this in the past. One of my friends does a lot of woodwind restoration and I keep trying to talk him into branching out into brass/tubas but he's smart enough to stick to his skill set.
