Atterberg and Editing Gripe

Post by Mark »

Performed Kurt Atterberg's Symphony No. 2 yesterday. If you haven't heard it, it's very nice: https://youtu.be/XTh233TWXTQ?si=8lyrW552O6Udwuqk.

If any of you are sheet music editors, here is my gripe about this handwritten sheet music: Cues are helpful, but when there are so many with the notes nearly the same size as the tuba notes, it is very hard to determine which are for tuba.

This happens with printed music also. Played Brahms 2nd symphony this weekend. With two or three notes to play between 30 or 40 bars rest for over 15 minutes I had to colour-mark when to play in my sheet

I never heard of Atterberg --- this is nice music. Great horn parts too!

Just imagine being a jazz musician, and not knowing for sure when you're going to play or what you're going to play.
