sending a Bb tuba from Denmark to southern Germany? ??

I want to send a Cherveny 641 Bb tuba from Copenhagen, Denmark to southern Germany for a reasonable price.

I cam package securely, either in the dimensions

120x55x65 cm, about 20 kg, in cardboard box with wooden enforced corners and plenty of soft stuffing, or

80x60x130 cm, about 35 kg, on a half Euro pallet with home made wood box around

That is no problem, but the issue is to find a transport company that is no prohibitive expensive.

Can you give me some pointers?

GLS will not allow this size for private customers, DHL asks 1.200,- EURO (!!!) for one-off air-flight shipment of the smaller dimension.

I could yet not find any transport company with a reasonable price.

How do you send you tubas across European borders ??

I got my tuba from Germany to The Netherlands by car, was about 8-9 hours round trip

Found one option: UpS takes 300,- Euro for the palleted cargo ... any better options around here ??

Can one still send half an Euro pallet by train ?? 30 years ago I did send an entire motorbike by train, from Italy to Germany, that went OK ...

In the US, shipping has become so expensive and so careless that many of us have just given up on it, and even though you're talking about a thousand miles or farther, some of us in the US will drive a thousand miles one way to pick up or deliver a sold tuba. Other times, buyers and sellers in the US agree to meet halfway to split the driving.
That having been said, our gasoline prices range from about only about $2.35 to $3 per US gallon, so that's a factor as well.
