King Pit Tuba!

IIRC, Joe Tarto, of "Big Joe, The Tuba" fame, played one of these:

The Tarto Horn (and six others of the same configuration--not sure if more than 4 of the 7 are still around) are about two feet taller than the pit tubas, and include a valve-switchable leadpipe for playing standing or sitting. Oddly enough, to facilitate transport (apparently) the horns have a removable bottom bow, but a fixed bell.

I love how it plays - recorded Sleigh Ride a month or so ago.... but that was by myself and I haven't played with a group in over a year. Priorities have changed and sadly, a tuba this nice doesn't deserve to be left on a stand collecting dust.

You can also find it here for less than the eBay ad.
