Polka Tuba playing done very well!!

Post by prairieboy1 »

This evening I had the pleasure of watching Mollie Busta and Ted Lange on their weekly variety show on Youtube. They welcomed a group from Wisconsin named the TwinLakesTrio led by Jon Dietz with his sons' Zack and Xavier. Jon played the concertina while Xavier played saxophone and Zack played the tuba. Zack is 16 years old and only began playing tuba last year! He is a tremendous young player. His timing was perfect and the sound coming from his beautiful 4 valve recording tuba really provided a great foundation for the rest of the group. I do not impress easily, however this young fellow certainly did very well. This group can be found at TwinLakesTrio.com. This is not a paid endorsement!

That kid is good. Sounds like a young Jimmy Dorschner! That is solid, swinging music (as it should be).

There’s a really good large polka/German/etc. band in the Manitowoc area, as well. I’m thinking that the leader lives right on Lake Shore Drive across the road from lakefront property (Lake Michigan). Jeremiah – our webmaster - plays in it. I don’t know the name of the tuba player, but when I walked up on them (a couple of years ago), that gentleman was playing a King, and sounded just fine.
