That's a Leningrad and that was my old horn I sold the guy for $500 5 years ago. He is a banda player and trying to fool people by calling it an Alex and inflating the price. I had Corey at Sam Ash music in Westminster, Ca put those paddles on it and the US size receiver shank on it to fit American mouthpieces.

This confirmed all of my original thoughts. $500 sounds like a decent price.

I bet Jose will feel even more sillier when he reads my message saying I know he's a snake oil salesman I didn't sell him that case though, so if you could get it for $500 with that case it's a bargain. And I will say, that horn played AWESOME. Super clean false tones in the pedal range. Very easy to blow and very nimble. I wouldn't mind having it back actually for fun.

Those are M&M paddles we put on there as well, since those little Ancient Sovietsky tear drop paddles were too small and junky. This horn still needs miniballs put on it to be REALLY good.

It's just the old Leningrad logo with the price of the horn etched into the brass. Pretty interesting how they did that, price cap for future Craigslist sales (until Capitalism came around and everyone forgot how to read Cyrillic).

I sold one of these in near perfect condition for about $700 a couple of months ago.

These can actually be very nice players although it was too "bright" for my taste.

500 up to 1500. That's inflation for you!

I sold a row boat (on a trailer) to a guy for $500. About 6 months later he had it up for $5000 after repainting the inside from a nice, neutral light tan color to a putrid sea foam green (expensive paint? Saw he is down to $3500.

I bought a tuba on eBay because I thought I could double my money (unless I loved the tuba and wanted to keep it). A music store bought it from me and listed it on eBay for more than double what I sold it for. I remember it being listed for several (2-4) years. I think they overestimated its value... Or maybe it's sold for what they wanted. I don't see it up anymore... Or maybe they discounted it a bunch.

Sure, that's awesome..you won't know when the boat is taking on water that way No honestly though, that's a great color kind of reminds me of the boat flume on "It's a Small World" at Disneyland. Price not so much though.

I see a fair number of instruments on eBay that are up for years. There's a particular Conn Eb that I think has been listed for the same "optimistic" price for over a decade. I wouldn't be surprised if it has been up for closer to two decades.
