The Birth: My 1966 Conn 36K + 1971 King 1280(?)

Post by King Conn »

Hello everyone!

This is more so of an update on my project than a request for advice, lol. It’s finally come off. The Conn 36K is no more! Haha! Just its raw valve section, without the connector/adapter at the end. Now it’s just a matter of soldering on the King’s fitting/adapter and its braces that connect it to the fiberglass onto the Conn. other sie, eve Everything fits as it’s supposed to, and I came out with no damage. Yay! Now we wait on parts and wash, chem clean, and paint this crusty 36K valve block and 1280(?) fiber-body. I would absolutely love to hear any recommendations as to paints and such for the fiberglass body, or any designs you think would be cool. The only thing I’ve got in my mind now is using a black peel-off base, and using this cool, neon, irreredend paint I found and flingn’ paint splats on it. I’d love to hear any opinions on that, or any other ideas.

Thanks so much everyone!

Avoid wild paint jobs unless you plan on keeping it forever. But

Yeah, of course! 🤣 Exactly why I plan to use a peel-off base coat. I was thinking of plastidip after testing it out on some painted surfaces, and it seems to do fine. My only worry is the plastidip would be too thick. Of course though, I would never paint any of the brass. I’ve seen that before and it is utterly stupid. I am going to de-lacquer the brass though, and hope to get it re-lacquered in the future if possible. In the meantime, I’m currently soldering everything back on. Everything is working just fine :]
