I actually just bought this horn today. It's a beautiful horn and plays well. It's also remarkably lightweight. The story behind the horn is that it is a Buescher sousaphone body from the mid-1950s married to a York upright Eb bell. The custom lead pipe was made by Joe Sellmansberger and is to get the horn in tune.
That's exactly what I thought about this. Though I thought it might be a 36K body since it looked very similar.
It's a gorgeous looking horn, and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it!
Nick
(This horn list more to remind me what I have than to brag)
1984 Conn 12J
1990s Kanstul 900-4B BBb
1924 Holton 122 Sousa
1972 Holton B300 Euph
If you see a Willson 2900, serial W2177, it's been missing for a long time. Help me bring it home.
