Happy Tuba Tuesday. The Museum today features a King, EE flat tuba, 3 piston, c.1902.

Serial #: 8373

Bell Diameter 20”, Bore Size .650, Height 33”.

Comments:

“KING / MADE BY / H.N. WHITE / CLEVELAND /OHIO.” on bell. Ornate floral engraving around identification marks. “THE KING / MADE BY / H.N. WHITE / CLEVELAND / 8373” on 2nd valve.

I both love and it’s great to see such simple instruments - particularly the forgotten Eb’s - that doubtless did a great job for very many musicians. IMHO ‘we’ seek too much perfection, push the envelope too far and over complicate things.

That would be a great bell to stick on one of those eBay King 4-valve BB-flat old-style 2341 bodies that are missing their bells.
