Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
Just what I needed after this dreadful day of fixings mistakes, from small to unbelievably stupid, of engineers getting paid a bunch more than me. This forum's number one Narcissist with strong psychopathic tendencies, calling me a schizophrenic (I am guaranteed not paranoid). Did I ever tell that I ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
Did I wake the troll!! Yet an other 50€ bet I have won As he has one I'm pretty sure he knows one was stolen ( I didn't). You've got to be a very kind of stupid to say you have something rare on this specialized forum that could have been stolen 25 years ago. So you think he is that stupid, do you? ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
So you have the stolen one. "Arnold Jacobs had three Adjustable Cup tuba mouthpieces made for him. Jacobs used these mouthpieces to be able to adjust the tone and character of the sound without changing mouthpieces during a performance. After he passed away these three were given to some ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
I think you should pay better attention. Most of these devices or endorsed or used by famous players. See Arnold Jacobs variable cup mouthpiece. Those were only ever meant as pedagogical tools; an easy way to show what effect different cup depth has. They are for sale if you have enough money. $535 ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
Reminds me of the sound coil (or some name like that) that was advertised in the T.U.B.A Journal back in the early '80s. It disappeared and I've never heard of anyone ever using one. In the vein questionable physics, a flutist in an AF band that I played in back in the '90s came up with the idea ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
I've also noticed (over a half century of playing gigs with others) that - the finer, more accomplished, and more musical the player (yeah..."in my opinion") the less likely they are to have any of these sorts of things (opinionated adjectives avoided) on-board their instruments (as well as the ...

Re: charts, graphs, and things at which I tend to look askance
Acousticoil by Don Novy! It was like a plastic shotgun choke… fer yer horn! That will probably 'worked' since it is just like the famous dent in F tubas or solder left behind inside the instrument. It changes the inner diameter and so gives an impedance change. It was surely ridiculously expensive f ...

Re: Messina Bags
The location of the straps is a different problem. All bag makers seem to think that straps should be proportionally placed instead of a definite distance up from the bow, so that shorter people are continually banged in the lower thighs or back of the knees when trying to backpack a taller bag ...

Re: Messina Bags
Well, the site says they make each bag to your measurements, and the fit is better than other stock bags on the market. If someone's bag doesn't fit well, was the bag made for that horn with submitted measurements? I'm glad to hear other opinions as if I'm paying for a new bag, I want a slim fit ...

Re: Corrosion silver vs lacquer
Dezincification also happens in brass pipe fittings because they use the brass with high zinc content because it is easier machinable. Sort of surprised that your 98 had some red rot but my 91 also has some spots in the silver plating and some connections that aren't soldered as good as to be ...
