Re: For You MP Gurus Out There

If you want a Helleberg style rim and a Bach 18-ish cup. I wonder if you'd like the Laskey 32B, or 32G (the B is deeper, the G is more lively, but not shallow either). I really like the 30H, but it runs a little too sharp leaning on my current horn, I image a 30 or 32H might be worth trying on the ...

Check out Bloke's post in the repair subforum, he talks about how the Miraphone 98 bell is very similar to what your looking for. He might be able to help! @bloke

Re: bloke keeps messing around with more mouthpiece cup shapes

Any update on this design? There may be a few run off (again, on a lathe a helluva lot better than mine) in two or three weeks, but they would be un-plated, at that time. I will tell you (if I didn't already mention it above) that it's more of a bowl cup and not shallow... ...It's (hopefully) an ...

Re: My Meinl Weston "6465"

I don’t have access to either to measure, but I have seen the 5th valve published spec on the 2165 5th valve as 0.807” (it sits on the small side of the main tuning slide) and the 6450 5th valve as 0.846” (it sits on the large side of the main tuning slide). I would think maybe they’re not the same ...

Re: Embouchre with nerve damage

I don't have any advice, but maybe a lesson with someone with lots of experience with embouchure building/rebuilding would be helpful. Doug Elliot might be a good person to reach out to.

I haven't tried it yet, but from what I've been told and read that seems to be the general consensus.

Re: PT6 and MRP CC

The piston version of the PT6 always sounds tubbier (more "covered"...fewer audible high-frequency harmonics...whatever) vs. the rotary version (ok: "to me"). I wonder (regardless of whether the resonance were generally more appealing or less appealing) how many more of those MRP things they would ...

Re: PT6 and MRP CC

I'm remembering that there were things that were not easy (for me) to execute on the MRP (which I can execute with more ease with the 98)...but - again - "being accustomed to..." ... I've allowed my own "lip-trill prowess" fade (sure: lack of practice) - over the last few years (having built it up ...

Thank you for the replies everyone. That mostly confirms what I was kind of thinking. This video is kind of neat / relevant. PT6 and MRP CC

Hi all,

I have been curious about these models, and honestly haven't had the chance to head out and do much "trying out" lately. An internet search didn't pull up a lot of info, any thoughts on how they compare?

Thank you!
