Looking for a 6/4 5v CC tuba (Found)

Post by Aidan.Volk »

Hello,

I’m currently studying tuba in college and I’m looking to get a larger horn. I’m currently playing on a Meinl Weston 37 and would be more than happy to trade, but I’m also fine with just paying for the tuba on its own. I would prefer to have 4 pistons and a thumb operated 5th valve. I live in Maine, but would be willing to travel long distances to pick up the horn.

Lee Stofer has a very nice Holton/Kanstul CC tuba for sale. It is listed on his "Instruments in Process" page on the website. We have not taken photos for the ad yet, but I played it for a concert series. It was a good time. I would be happy to answer any questions about that tuba or feel free to reach out to Lee.

What about your current tuba is limiting you?

It’s not necessarily that it’s limiting me greatly, but I’ve tried a few larger horns and have found them to feel much more open and much easier to play. I’ve also spent enough time on both a rotor and a piston horn to say that I prefer playing on a piston horn. I’m also largely trying to just put feelers out for what horns are out there.

Careful with this one. Likely a scam!

Searching icgTuba's email address listed above shows some legit hits on TubeNet, so he is likely a real person and it's very likely not a scam.
