Re: WTB: MTS 1207

I have a B-stock model in stock. If you're close to Cincinnati, it would be a very good deal to pick up and save shipping. Please email me at chite AT buddyrogers DOT com.

Re: Rudolf Meinl Tuba review

I, too, love my RM tubas, a 5/4 F and 4/4 CC. I've had them both for over 20 years and won't part with them. I had a silver 4/4 CC made for the USAREUR Band in Germany in 2006 and if I ever run across that instrument, I will have to own it. Those two are the best playing examples of that model I've ...

Re: Miraphone bags

The Miraphone bags are produced by Soundline and we get the ones for Lidl tubas. If you'd like to send what you're looking to outfit, I can see what our cost would be. We also get Supersacs from Goetz, top loading bags that used to come with B&S/Melton instruments. Let me know if you'd like more ...

I have been a member for eleven years and find the association a benefit to us and customers. They do publish a monthly digital journal, "Technicom," and it is often a good source of technician experience and inspiration to try new things. Techs aren't always able to attend a national conference ...

Re: EDUCATE ME! (ECB632)

That could certainly be arranged. I do have a B-stock 632S but am sold out of the 832. Hopefully getting one soon, not sure if silver or lacquer. Road trip to Dillon or some such might offer infinitely more information than the freak jury. EDIT: @the elephant Buddy Rogers (Cincy) has 'em too ...

Re: EDUCATE ME! (ECB632)

We've had many 632s and 832s in the showroom and shop. The 632 has a .689" valve bore through all four pistons where the 832 is a graduated bore. The 832 is made of lighter gauge brass which gives the feel of a slightly more nimble instrument (my opinion). Fifth valve linkage and position are very ...

Re: For Sale - Schilpf #11 practice mute

Sizes range from -2 to 14, 17 distinct sizes in fact. And that's just the practice mutes. The Mnozil Brass Tour Mutes and Vienna Straight Mutes, along with cup models, have their own numbering system. There's a lot to keep track of.

Re: For Sale - Schilpf #11 practice mute

If one were to look inside the mute on the foam batting, there should be a number written in there. I have to rely on that when the stickers on the outside fall off. Our size charts do state that a #11 fits the DS but I need to confirm that when another comes in the shop. And #6 is the proper ...

Re: How to Approach Mouthpieces

I get this nearly everyday with players looking for new mouthpieces. I always start with the same two questions; 1.what do you like about your current setup?, 2. what do you dislike/what do you seek to change? Without knowing where one's starting point is, lots of time and money will be wasted with ...

Re: Kanstul

Their herald trumpets were fantastic. TUSAB had (may still have) a set, possibly other premier bands as well. I spent some time with the 4/4 CC, 3/4 F, and the 5490 Grand CC. Each had their own quirks. The F was more than a bit squirrely but sounded great. No complaints about the 4/4 CC except maybe ...

Re: YBB-632S Yamaha BB FLAT NEO TUBA

Cincinnati Brass Band has one, I played it when I didn't own a suitable large BBb. It sounds great but I just can't do a 3+1 configuration for tuba. I'm fine on euphonium, actually prefer it to four right hand valves. They are large and difficult to handle for some players and that's where a playing ...
